About the apple last time-getting busted, serves you right Dr. BonBon. Also, significant crisis here all over So Cal-I-5 closed for better part of 2 days-snow/ice. Tornados (in Malibu!) and first time for snow in BelAir and Malibu in years/decades? Got stuck in Bakersfield one extra night (teaching) and what with flash floods and evacuations in Orange Cty (mudslides) we are really living it up. Rockslide closed roads out your way somewhere....otherwise all is well. Also, Academy Awards might go blotto given cont'd writer's strike. Oh well.

None of us women offered an opinion but the man was mumbling about the injustice of it at every opportunity. ---I can picture this! Had my own experience at the laundromat in Upland Saturday--I made lots of 'observations' and tried to 'visit' with folks but my Spanish is...well, it simply 'isn't'. Sign there looked as though it said not to oversuds--between me and the Spanish-speaking blind guy on my right, this is what was 'figured out'. I know I didn't fit in-between the red hair plus..as I left I noticed it was, well, the ONLY Lexus...plus I was the only one reading the WSJ while waiting....you get the picture!
I mispoke about the awards going blotto, a) they went on after all-some peace accord must have been struck temporarily w writers--all sorts of subs have been hired so they better watch out! and b) it was the SAG Awards, Screen-Actors Guild. Not up on all this but even daytime TV is very affected and I wait for the big silver screen stars, Nick Cluny for example, to drop off their 'support' as everyone else's pocket book hurts-key grips, dolly grip, those folks you know. Collateral damage well underway I suppose.
I am at the Lexus dealer waiting, then off to 'my people' so the folks at Financial Planning who work for me (didn't dare look closely at the 'output' they issue quarterly what with stock market changes of late)...Congress is giving the neediest of people (individuals) $600 rebate on last year's taxes, $1200 for double-income families (there were two other aspects of 'breaks' but the aforementioned is the key one(s) for individuals.
Bad news: Sen Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy full-out support Obama who beat Hillary bad in So. Carolina yet the Robert Kennedy offspring (at least one-the Congressman) publicly supports Hillary. Some say this is all due to Bill being her advance-man and some alleged negativity in his 'presentation'. Flush Limbaugh & Co. making a lot of truly ugly mean petty remarks about a) her appearance and b) his style in representing her--his should not have been the first name we heard/saw in a recent public appearance by the Clintons (I agree). Also, Guilliano is out for all intents/purposes DT a) strategy and b) personal life too messy (married three times plus went through each of those experiences w pants down).
Weather about to clear up here mid-Monday: many many So Cal towns/areas like Chatsworth set records breaking all others for road closures and such in decades-water and flash flood plus debris all the way from your place and east out to La Canada Flintridge continuing thru Angeles National Forest to Wrightwood and east to I-15--I know because this is partly my 'second' route to Bakersfield if I-5 closed again today. It is open just now and voluntary evacuations for Orange Cty mudslide lifted so those folks went home-a fair amount of fear down there naturally.
Boulder slides too-not just rocks but boulders. MA$

SHIP LECTURE THIS MORNING. This time it was about the SS Bremen ----my father came over on the Bremen--do tell when you get home...September of 1929, a month before the stock market crashed.

News Flash: Thu am early (3 am or so) Britney Spears' parents, along w the authorities, stormed her home where she was forcibly removed for '72 hour medical observation' at UCLA....two LAPD helicopters, couple of squad cars and an ambulance-just in the complex of her neighborhood and when they used the bigger city streets there was a police motorcade-today the cost turned out to be 25K which the authorities must now defend-in the interest of public safety from crazy papparazi. Had to be more $$ than that! Poor kid has her work cut out-to figure out that she is actually a human, with value, apart from the various 'entities' created around her...could take a lifetime. Like many before her gone down that road, had help, had help...all the wrong kind of course I meant. More later

The Republicans are all effed up-no, I AM telling you something new. I don't mean they as individuals or their party...but their campaigns! I said (ok so I got some fuel for my argument from Flush Limbaugh) that if McCain is elected president, he will finish distintigrating/crashing/burning, destroying what remains of the Republican party-the work so effortlessly started by his predecessor, W. I am right-today, the John and Ken show (AM 640) had a "kill McCain" hour where would-be supporters called in v. angry--that McCain uses his POW experience as a club, specifically, how out of touch he is. I would add: they/we already have an unredeemably unrecoverABLE resentful SOB whose anger is a mile long/high in the White House and we cannot/will not survive another. I have spoken. More later on the Dems debate at the Kodak theater last nigth==kind of uneventful except when they asked about those two (hillary and barack) maybe being running mates. btw: chelsea clinton took the stage for mom at CSU Dominquez Hills recently--she turned out not bad looking and of course quite poised and intelligent. "My mother, as President, will restore our willingness to work WITH the world..." Enough said. MA$ You are missing a lot of theater here.
